Tension in Katsina community as residents protest worsening insecurity

Tension rose in Danjanku, a community in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State, as residents took to the streets to protest rising insecurity.

Eyewitnesses said the protesters, mostly youths and women, marched through the main roads chanting slogans and demanding that the government act quickly to stop attacks by bandits and other criminals.

The residents complained that despite several reports to security agencies, bandits keep raiding their farms and homes, injuring people and displacing families.

A protester, Aisha Musa, told journalists that people in the community now live in constant fear.

“We can no longer sleep peacefully. Every night we hear gunshots, and people are being kidnapped or killed. We are tired of empty promises,” she said.

A local youth leader also appealed to Governor Dikko Umar Radda and security forces to do more to protect rural communities, noting that many residents have fled to nearby villages for safety.

Although calm had returned to the area, but residents have vowed to continue demanding stronger government action against insecurity.
