2027: Defection will not affect NNPP chances – Kwankwanso’s supporters tell members

Kwankwanso National Mobilisation, a group loyal to a former governor of Kano State and a chieftain of New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso has noted that the defection of some chieftains of the party will not affect the chances of the party in 2027 general elections.

National coordinator of the movement, Ahmad Halliru Sawaba made this declaration while addressing a press conference on Tuesday in Ibadan the Oyo State capital.

Some chieftains of the party had few weeks ago dumped the party.

Sawaba, however, said that those who left the party did so because of self-interests, maintaining that the party remained formidable in Nigerian politics.

He added that the 2027 election is not just a political contest but a movement to reclaim the hopes of ordinary Nigerians, saying the party will be open to any political parties that share its ideology.

“Those who defected to other political parties did it for self-interests. There defection will not affect our party negatively in the 2027 general elections.

“The NNPP remains a formidable force in Nigerian politics, built on the principles of justice, equity and progress.

“As we approach our upcoming party convention, we are committed to strengthening internal democracy, fostering unity and presenting a cohesive front to Nigerians. The 2027 election is not just a political contest but a movement to reclaim the hopes of ordinary Nigerians.

“In this spirit, the NNPP is open to discussions with other progressive parties that share our ideology of good governance inclusivity and national development. Any alliance must be based on mutual respect, shared values and the collective interests of Nigerians,” Sawaba noted.
