Labour Party Dismisses Julius Abure’s 48-Hour Ultimatum Against Peter Obi
The Acting National Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman, made this known in a statement issued on Thursday.
She described the ultimatum from the Julius Abure-led faction as baseless and coming from people with no legal or political authority in the party.
A statement released by Ken Eluma Asogwa, Usman’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, said the party leadership had fully endorsed Obi’s participation in the coalition talks, which were aimed at creating a united political front to challenge the ruling APC.
The statement read, “The attention of the Labour Party has been drawn to misleading reports and commentaries suggesting that His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi, has been issued a 48-hour ultimatum to resign from the party following his participation in the recent coalition talks and the unveiling of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abuja.
