Super Eagles striker reflects on friendly as he turns attention to club
Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has reflected on the recent friendlies against Poland and Serbia as he aims to turn attention back to his club.
Ighalo featured for 90 minutes in the 1-0 victory against Serbia and was introduced in place ofVictor Moses at halftime in the 2-0 defeat to Serbia.
The Changchun Yatai forward failed to find the back of the net in the two friendlies but like captain Mikel Obi, Ighalo believes that the friendlies were good for the team in preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup which will hold in Russia.
In a report by Complete Sports Ighalo stated that after the friendlies the team has to continue to work harder to be ready for the soccer fiesta.
He said, “The friendlies were good for the team and we know where we are now and we will continue to work hard to be better ahead of the World Cup.”
Now that the friendly matches have been played, Ighalo stated that he hopes to go back to his Chinese side and prepare himself for the World Cup.
“The focus is now to my club (Changchun Yatai) where I will maintain my form ahead of the World Cup,” Ighalo said
The 28-year-old Ighalo has a total of 15 appearances for the Super Eagles and has contributed four goals.
